A 2-day workshop led by ceramic teacher and sculptor:

This incredible two-day workshop will cover the basics of working with plaster while developing your skills and understanding of how to use this amazing material to unleash the potential of your ceramic creativity!
Plaster is a versatile and dynamic tool that can be used in many ways to further your sculptural and functional pottery. Workshop leader, Owen Moon, will share his expertise on working with plaster and introduce you to concepts you may never had imagined. You will explore the making and utilization of sprig molds, hump and slump molds, and stamps while working with oil clay and water-based clays. As a participant, you will walk away with multiple plaster molds, a solid introduction to the procedures and best practices of working with plaster, and a new, vital inspiration for approaching your ceramic creations!

Originally from Philadelphia, Owen Moon received his BFA in Ceramics from Alfred University. He did post baccalaureate work at the University of Arkansas and most recently received his MFA in Ceramics from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Through his years of education and working alongside other artists and designers, Owen gained a vast knowledge of ceramics techniques, skills, and problem solving. He has taught for many years at art centers, schools, and with AmeriCorps. His specialties are slip-casting, mold-making, and sculpture.
As a current Artist-in-Residence at the Taos Ceramics Center since the new year, Owen has already contributed on a regular and daily basis to the Center, its members and students. His skill-set in ceramics is impressive and he never hesitates to share his knowledge. Owen will be teaching the slip-casting and hand building classes at the TCC.

A 2-day workshop led by the incomparable Santa Fe ceramic sculptor:
ANDREA PICHAIDA

This 2-day, hands-on workshop will explore how to achieve a conversation piece that you will be proud of by starting with a simple shape and expanding upon it in three-dimensions discovering the possibilities that clay has to offer.
We will discuss the rules of composition, symmetry, and how to apply them to create a unique piece. We will also address the unlimited possibilities that texture, shape and color offer us. It’s all about being playful and stepping out of the boundaries.
Let us all be surprised by what the clay universe has in store!

Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Andrea graduated from the Catholic University of Chile with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts in 1987. She widely exhibited from 1985-2010 and her work is held in public as well as private collections in Chile, Argentina, Germany, Brazil, USA, Canada, Spain, and The Vatican. In 2010, Andrea moved to Santa Fe, NM, where she married Dr. Dave Gonzales.
Since relocating, Andrea's work has been widely exhibited and collected thoughout the state and has been the recipient of numerous awards. She was, until 2024, president of the NMPCA (New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists), the largest state-wide organization of ceramic artists, taught at the former Santa Fe Clay and privately at her studio, and also has led workshops at the Taos Ceramics Center.
Prior to moving to the US, Andrea worked as an Associate Professor and Head of the Sculpture Department at the Art School of the Catholic University between 1994 -2010. During that period she also worked in many community projects throughout Chile to create a better environment for low income areas and the underserved.
She was commissioned to create three different Stations of The Cross in Santiago, Chile, and in 2004 was commissioned to sculpt a Prayer Vase for the Schoenstadt Community at the Vatican, selected by Pope John Paul II. Her book “El Arte de la Tierra y el Fuego, Manual práctico para el alumno” (The Art of Cay and Fire, Student’s manual) was published in 2003.
