TCC Artists-in-Residence Program
This is an outstanding opportunity for those seeking to spend time in what many consider the richest arts environment in the US, surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty, and a wonderful community. Our studio, gallery, and supply store opened in 2020 and has already established a nationwide reputation for quality, creativity, and innovation attracting regular members and students from not only New Mexico but throughout the US as well.
In July of 2024, the TCC was recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization by the federal and state government. This is beginning to open doors for our growth that we could not have imagined any other way. We are looking to break ground in 2026 on a 4,600 sq ft, dedicated educational facility to expand our programming that will attract ceramics professionals from throughout the US. Our vision is to become the premier center for ceramics education and appreciation in the Southwest.
For our AiR program, we offer a wonderful two-bedroom/two-bath furnished residence located on the TCC campus. Bedrooms and baths are on opposite sides of the house with a common kitchen/dining area, living room, and utility room with washer/dryer. There are also numerous patios and porches in a professionally landscaped environment. Most important, there is an attached 250 sq ft, fully equipped, studio just for our AiRs.
AiRs also have 24/7 access to the TCC's main studio, including all equipment and studio glazing materials, as well as a 20% discount on clay purchases from our store and deeply discounted firing fees. AiRs are provided the opportunity for a resident exhibit in the TCC Gallery towards the end of their residency at a 70/30 split of sales. The TCC seeks a very modest fee for housing, well below market rate, of $650/mo per resident. It includes a fully furnished residence (including linens and kitchen wares), all utilities, off-street parking, wi-fi, and 55"TV/Roku.
Responsibilities of AiRs to the TCC include 8 hours/week of voluntary studio maintenance doing general cleaning, reclaim maintenance/pugging, studio glaze maintenance, kiln loading/unloading, and potentially kiln maintenance (if experienced). AiRs will also have the opportunity of additional paid studio tech hours if desired, and to teach a minimum of one 3-hour class per week (paid) as well as private lessons (paid).
If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please send us your resume/bio and a letter detailing your interest to manager@taosceramics.com. Also, please include your preference of a 6-month or 1-year residency.
We welcome your inquiries throughout the year.
